Product: Ansys ModelCenter
Severity: Informational
Introduction: CATIA and SolidWorks do not allow multiple instances to be run at once. Data
collisions may occur if a user or non-ModelCenter process interacts with CATIA while ModelCenter is
attempting to access CATIA. Data collisions may occur if a user or non-ModelCenter process interacts
with SolidWorks while ModelCenter is attempting to access SolidWorks.Issue: CATIA or SolidWorks may experience data collisions if a user or non-ModelCenter process
interacts with either product while ModelCenter is accessing the same program. ModelCenter 12.0
and newer provide a locking mechanism to serialize ModelCenter’s interactions with CATIA and
SolidWorks to prevent data collisions. However, it is possible that a user or non-ModelCenter process
could interact with either CATIA or SolidWorks while the same program is being accessed by
ModelCenter and result in data collisions. For example, launching CATIA or SolidWorks from the Start
menu while ModelCenter is using the same program could invalidate results without the user’s
knowledge.Impact: Data collisions may occur if a user or non-ModelCenter process interacts with CATIA while
ModelCenter is attempting to access CATIA. Data collisions may occur if a user or non-ModelCenter
process interacts with SolidWorks while ModelCenter is attempting to access SolidWorks. Data
collisions of this nature could produce incorrect results without the user’s knowledge.Resolution: While running a trade study or a workflow that utilizes CATIA or SolidWorks, do not
interact with the same program outside of ModelCenter. For more information contact Support at PHX-Support@ansys.com or 800-500-1936 Option 2
