I need to perform a vee bending simulation on Aluminium alloy 3003-0 in Ansys transient structural. But i am facing difficulty how to get data points for defining multilinear isotropic hardening in engineeing data Ansys. Please any one guide me.
October 20, 2021 at 11:05 amVinayak VipradasAnsys EmployeeMultilinear Isotropic Hardening is defined by Plastic Strain vs True Stress, where the first point indicates the onset of Plastic Deformation which is (0, yield strength). The first point in the table is at zero plastic strain and stress at the yield point. The stress-strain curve should be monotonically increasing so the negative slope of stress-strain data should be discarded.
For a detailed explanation on data points for defining Multilinear Hardening, please refer to this link:

Sir I have already watched the video you referred me,I also know the concept of putting the first input as (0,yield stress) but I do not know how to get other data points from the the above stress strain curve, especially how to get the stress values.

I assume your model is based on the data from the Stress-Strain curve image that you have provided. If not, you can google 'Stress-Strain Curve for Aluminium alloy 3003-0' and find the required data. You need to select a sufficient number of data points in the plastic region of the curve, where the intercept of the Strain axis in the Plastic region gives Plastic Strain and the intercept of the Stress axis gives Stress coordinate. You may also need to convert data in engineering Stress and Strain to True Stress and Strain.
Does that answer your question?
Thank you Vinayak.
October 20, 2021 at 5:14 pmIdrees KhanSubscriberSir you mean I can take any arbitrary data points in the plastic region?
My second question is ,by defining the Isotropic elasticity is it OK I just put the values of Young's modulus and Poisson ratio ? Or for that I still need a table of data points
such as for the Multilinear isotropic hardening?
Thank You!

Yes, you can take arbitrary data points in the plastic region but make sure these points represent a monotonically increasing curve till the point of necking and these points should be scattered within this range.
For the second question, if your analysis is concerned with isotropic material and the temperature range is within the limit, you only need to provide one set of values of Young's Modulus and Poisson's Ratio for defining Isotropic Elasticity.
Thank you Vinayak
