Hi,
When I run 3D Maxwell magnetic transient solver, all the mesh operations are valid and when its solving for solutions I run into a issue where it says; Process '3dtds' terminated abnormally. Could have been killed by user or may have run out of memory. Which makes no sense to me because I have 12 Gb of ram. So how could I run out of memory? I also did not abort the simulation. Could someone please help me? Thank you very much.

Hi,
What version of ANSYS are you using? 18.2 19.0 19.1
Are you on the limited Student license or an unlimited Research license?
Create a Workbench Project Archive .wbpz file and attach it to your reply after you Submit. You can only attach files < 120 MB. Clear the Mesh to make the file smaller or provide a link to a Google Drive file.

I am using the university license for Ansys Maxwell, so I cannot create a workbench.

I have encountered similar errors before. For me, often there has been something about the geometry that is giving the solver issues; for example, two objects are very close together but not quite touching. I would advise switching individual objects to be non-model until it runs without the error. That will enable you to identify which object or objects are causing the problem. Then, it will be easier to know where to focus your efforts on fixing the problem.

Process '3dedy' terminated abnormally. This problem has come during Eddy current simulation of a coil. There is no problem with memory. I would like to know the meaning of '3dedy'. What could be the reason for error? When i reduced the number of turns in the 'complex coil', simulation completed successfully.
But, how to go ahead without error for required number of turns?

September 14, 2020 at 6:48 pmGhost6297SubscriberHey, I am receiving the same '3dtds' error while running simulation on a 3D SRM model in ANSYS Maxwell. Do you know how to fix the problem, i tried all the things you said above but it is still not working. When i am not using the external circuit in my simulations, it works fine without any errors but when i import an external circuit for the same model, this error shows up. I have around 16Gb RAM on my computer and i'm no sure if it is because of space or something else. Please help!!n

I have same problem "Process '3dedy' terminated abnormally". If the mesh element reaches more than usually (110000-120000) number of elements, simualated stops with 3dedy error. What is the reason for this? I increased my RAM from 16 GB to 48 GB, but I still face the same issue. Is this the limitation or issue with the software itself?
