Can Ansys SPEOS simulate the impact of reflection at the boundary to detail out more,

I have a collimated beam of light passing through glass and a detector (irradiance sensor) placed at a distance from glass. I want to observe the imapact of glass angular orientation w.r.t optics axsis on the irradiance at the sensor.

Is it possible to simualte this ? A simple skecth below

      Hello,

This can definitely be done in Ansys SPEOS as well as in Ansys Zemax.

This can be done in Ansys SPEOS by creating a colimated Surface Source, a Rectangular Volume with specific Material Properties that correspond to the glass in use, and an Irradiance Sensor. A simple direct simulation including all 3 components can provide the impact of rotating the glass in respect to the optical axis.

First, I suggest setting up the three components with the rectangular volume (corresponding to the glass) normal to the beam. Run a direct simulation as such to get a "test" result. Then I would run the simulation after rotating the rectangular volume by the angle you would like to rotate it. The two simulations can be compared to ensure that the set up is correct. Then you can continue to adjust the angle of rotation of the glass to observe the impact on the beam at the irradiance sensor.

      Hopefully this helps!
